‘The Enemy’ by Charlie Higson
Think carefully before borrowing this one from the school library. It’s not for the faint-hearted. There’s even a warning on the back that it contains strong violence and strong language.
It’s nothing that most of you won’t have seen or heard before in games or films, but think about it first. It might give you nightmares.
All the grown-ups appear to have been killed off by some unknown illness; the only ones to have survived are hungry…
The story follows a bunch of children as they try to survive.
It’s gripping stuff; I could hardly put it down.
It’s not a short book; you’ll need to have staying power, but if you’re a keen reader and you like a scary story, it might be right up your street.
